For the Topping

  • 1 medium Granny Smith Apple Other tart varieties can be used
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Melted

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a stand mixer, combine warm milk, instant yeast, eggs, melted butter, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the salt and all-purpose flour, mixing until fully combined. Let rest for about 5 minutes to activate the yeast.
  • Switch to a dough hook and knead for 5-7 minutes until the dough is slightly sticky. Cover it with a towel and let it rise in a warm area for about 35-40 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  • In a bowl, mix melted butter with packed light brown sugar, powdered cinnamon, freeze-dried apples, and heavy whipping cream until well blended.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to form a rectangle. Spread the filling evenly over the dough. Roll tightly from one end, pinch the seam, and cut into 12 equal pieces. Place in a greased pan and let rise for another 20 minutes.
  • Pour heavy cream over the rolls, then bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • In a mixing bowl, blend softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • In a saucepan, cook melted unsalted butter with sliced Granny Smith apples, brown sugar, and vanilla over medium heat until softened. Cool slightly before drizzling over the warm rolls.
  • Top the baked rolls generously with the cream cheese frosting and warm apple topping. Enjoy while warm!

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
