For the Pizza Crust

  • 1 cup Sourdough Discard or active sourdough starter
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil for greasing the skillet

For the Toppings

  • ½ cup Barbecue Sauce your favorite brand or homemade
  • 1 cup Shredded Chicken or pulled pork/cooked beef alternatives
  • 1 medium Sweet Potato or other roasted veggies
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese can substitute with cheddar or gouda
  • 2 tablespoons Spring Onions optional, can substitute with chives

Instructions

Steps to Make Pizza

  • Preheat your oven or stove by heating a cast iron skillet on high for a few minutes or set it to 450°F (230°C).
  • Grease the hot skillet with about 1 tablespoon of olive oil, making sure to coat the bottom evenly.
  • Pour the sourdough discard into the skillet, gently spreading it to form a thin, even layer.
  • Cook for about 2 minutes until the bottom sets and the crust starts to release easily from the skillet.
  • Transfer the crust to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Spread a thin layer of barbecue sauce over your crust.
  • Layer on the shredded chicken, sweet potato, and mozzarella, then add spring onions if desired.
  • Bake in your preheated 425°F (220°C) oven for about 10 minutes.
  • Serve hot from the oven.
