  • Cook the Mixture: Transfer the coated apples to a saucepan over medium heat. Cook for about 10 minutes until the apples are tender and fragrant, stirring occasionally.
  • Cool the Apples: Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
  • Assemble Layers: Cut pound cake into small cubes. In clear jars or a trifle dish, layer the cubes of cake at the bottom, followed by a layer of cooked apples, a drizzle of caramel sauce, and a layer of Cool Whip.
  • Repeat Layers: Continue layering the cake, apples, caramel, and Cool Whip until the jars are filled, finishing with a final layer of Cool Whip and caramel on top.
  • Refrigerate: Cover the trifle cups and refrigerate for up to 2 days.
