For the Cookie Base

  • 1.5 cups unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar sweetens and contributes to texture
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract opt for pure vanilla
  • 2.75 cups all-purpose flour structure base
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt balances sweetness

For the Caramel Layer

  • 11 oz caramel bits easy to work with
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream smooths the caramel

For the Chocolate Topping

  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips provides sweetness
  • 2 teaspoon coconut oil for glossy finish

Instructions

How to Make Decadent Twix Cookies

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a stand mixer, combine 1 ½ cups softened unsalted butter and 1 cup powdered sugar. Add in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, mixing until fluffy. Gradually incorporate 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour and ¼ teaspoon of salt until a soft dough forms.
  • Roll the dough out to about ¼ to ½ inch thick and cut out circles with a cookie cutter or glass, placing them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges turn golden brown. Allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 11 oz caramel bits and 1 tablespoon of heavy cream. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth. Spoon this caramel onto cooled cookies and let it set.
  • Combine 2 cups milk chocolate chips with 2 teaspoon of coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second bursts until fully melted and smooth. Spread the chocolate over the caramel and allow to cool until firm.

Notes

Optional: Sprinkle sea salt over the chocolate topping for added flavor!
