Equipment

  • Crockpot
  • skillet
  • mixing bowl

Ingredients

For the Beefloaf

  • 1 lb Ground Beef lean variety
  • 1 large Onion sweet, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup Beef Broth low-sodium recommended
  • 1 cup Cheese (Gruyère/Swiss) shredded
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Rosemary
  • ½ cup Ketchup/BBQ Sauce for glaze

For Serving Suggestions

  • 4 cups Mashed Potatoes
  • 1 loaf Crusty Bread
  • 2 cups Green Salad

Instructions

Cooking Steps

  • Sauté Onions and Garlic: Begin by heating a skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of oil. Sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic until they’re golden brown, releasing a sweet aroma (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed onions and garlic, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, and your chosen seasonings. Mix everything gently until evenly incorporated.
  • Shape the Loaf: Form the beef mixture into a loaf shape with your hands. Carefully place it in the crockpot, ensuring it fits well without crowding.
  • Add Broth and Cheese: Pour the beef broth around the loaf to keep it moist, avoiding the top. Then, sprinkle your cheese generously on top, allowing it to melt into the delicious mixture during cooking.
  • Cook the Beefloaf: Cover the crockpot with the lid and set it to low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours. It’s done when the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  • Rest and Serve: Once cooked, remove the lid and let the beefloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with mashed potatoes or crusty bread for a fulfilling meal.

Notes

Optional: Try drizzling extra ketchup or BBQ sauce on top before serving for added sweetness.
