  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour

For the filling

  • 3 cups peeled and thinly sliced apples (about 3 medium) Use a mix of sweet and tart apples like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp for best flavor.
  • 0.5 cup salted caramel sauce Store-bought works perfectly, ensure it's gooey.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir well to mix.
  • Add the flour to the mixture and stir until crumbly.
  • Press about two-thirds of the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  • In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust in the pan.
  • Drizzle the salted caramel sauce over the apples generously.
  • Crumble the remaining flour mixture over the top.
  • Bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  • Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

For serving, enjoy warm or at room temperature. Consider drizzling more caramel sauce on top and serving with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
